McCain made a huge mistake endorsing Bush in 2004, but he was between a rock and a hard place. Clearly he would have prefered Kerry as president, but he also knew that he couldn't change parties, and that once Bush was out, he could be the successor if he curried favor with the rightwing. Now, McCain may still be a frontrunner in 2008, but his embarassing endorsement of Bush will come back to haunt him.

All politicians will now find that support of Bush-Cheney or Delay is an albatross around their necks.

One good thing McCain did was to call the smearvets despicable liars, dishonest and dishonorable. Because he too was smeared by the same gang of liars and extremist creeps.
