It wouldn't be effectively illegal. It was legal in most states pre Roe and we would revert to that. There would be big fights in the states and we'd still end up with a mixed bag. The main legal issue would eventually be whether it was legal to transport a minor across a state line to get an abortion. Choicers would start funding transport for poor women to places where they could get abortions. The better off would go to destination resorts/clinics. There would also be a lot of effort put into non-surgical abortion techniques, which could operate under the radar in abolitionist states. The lifers can't stop abortion with anything short of a constitutional amendment.
