Does anybody realize how a grand jury works? (I've been in a couple). Libby had months to prepare for his testimony. If he had spoken too quickly to the FBI initially, he could have gone under oath and cleared it right up. If he did not know, or could not honestly remember, he could have said so. If he had contradictory notes or e-mails, he could have said so. If he was presented with evidence that seemed to contradict his story, he could have cleared it up. If he was confused he could have walked out of the room and talked to his attorney, then come back in and cleared it up. If he made early mistakes he could have asked to come back and set the record straight. (I think Rove may well have done this...maybe more than once). Fitzgerald is a very good prosecutor. Everyone agrees on that. He would not have taken this step unless he felt Libby was intending to, as he said: "throw dirt in the umpire's eyes". Believe me, there is more to all this than we have seen yet.
