So you really think that they created the whole CDMA standard without any IPRs from Ericsson ,Nokia and other companies.I don't think so.If you read the report you see that for the essential patents it's only about 15% that are CDMA related.Ericsson and QCOM went to court about it.That was after QCOM tried to stop WCDMA as a standard. Then Ericsson think it was important to use their patents.I think that's the difference between QCOM and the european companies.QCOM have used the patents as a big source of income. That has not been the case for the european companies.Take GSM as an example. The winning proposal for the GSM standard was primarly brought forward by Ericsson and Telia.Ericsson didn't have one essential patent on GSM at that time.It was not the tradition in Europe to take patents on ideas that you wanted to get into the standards.Other companies just went home and patented as much as they could.Like Motorola.Motorola was smart of course but the ethical side of it could be discussed.
Qualcomm only have 55% of the essential patents in CDMA2000.Why is it sounding like QCOM creates the CDMA2000 standard themselves. Are they alone on the 3GPP2 meetings or.Isn't that a little bit insulting towards the other members and the researchers of this entities
