I am not a genius soccer coach. But I'm a good soccer coach. I have coached dozens of teams and hundreds of games. Sometimes I had talented team that were so superior within their league that could not lose. And I had teams that were very talent limited. I have no doubt there are coaches who could have gotten more out of some of my less talented teams and clearly there were coaches who were far less capable than I. I don't know enough to speak about Wellington. But defeating Napoleon's butt is not sufficient evidence of genius.
