I play cards on a recreational level with family and friends, on occassion I do the local Casino and now that HoldEm is so popular I do as many tournamants as I can find around town, I also play a lot of cash games.
I consider my skill level to be with the best of them....
It is my discipline, or lack of, that usually gets me in trouble not my understanding of the game.
Luck seems to come and go in spurts and when recognized it must be taken advantage of..that is one component of winning.
In HoldEm it is Patience (in the form of conservative play) that is usually rewarded...but it still takes a lot of Luck to be a big winner.
I am considering the $10000.00 big Binnions tournamant....what the hell....... once in a lifetime.
I agree give me pocket Aces anytime....although I stayed to see the flop Saturday on 7/2 unsuited and ended up winning with two pair, 7s and 2s, one guy had pocket Ks but didnt know how to bet them, slow played (reason I stayed for the flop).
I have found that in a tournament of a couple hundred players you can usually make it down to the 50 level or so by simply playing the blinds only and when you have great hole cards...most players will beat themselves as I have on occassion.
have to run back later....
