Flash! One needn't worship Ho Chi Minh to be a stick-in-the-mud.

Most of the Orient- China, Thailand, Hong Kong, Phillipines,
Singapore, Malaysia and now, Vietnam, have banned virtual pets
from the class rooms and authorities frown upon their use. China
has actively repressed sales of virtual pets and confiscated hordes
of the critters. School systems in California are on record as ban-
ning the electronic beasties, and it is not unlikely that most other
school systems in the US and Canada will follow suit. Bandai and
other makers are now building in or will build in a "pause" button
on the virtual pets. What overall effect on sales these school-time
bans will have is a matter subject to speculation.
