You know, Tom, we elect Presidents so they can exercise judgment. If GWB was concerned there was not enough evidence, as his remark would indicate, why did he now slow things down, investigate in other ways, demand more accountability?

You can't get Mr. Bush off the hook by pointing out he did not exercise his constitutional authority to demand enough evidence, so we don't have questions like: "Is that all you got". Red Flag? I think so.

What would the reaction of the American People have been at the time (had we been allowed to know) that the President had such misgivings?
