I watched "Kingdom of Heaven" last night, including some of the stuff on how they made the movie. "Open Range," with Kevin Costner had a similar feature that explained how they made it. Movie making is exceedingly complex, and those features gave me renewed respect for the field.

I've seen how they made a TV show, "The Dukes of Hazzard," and talked to Uncle Jesse. Even a little pissant show like that takes hundreds of people, and they all must be on the spot with their individual role down perfectly, and on time. The "stars" like Catherine Bach can swing in, say their lines , and take off after fifteen minutes, but everyone else is just working their butts off, or waiting to do something that only they can do.

The people portrayed in "People" magazine and the like are nothing but fluff. If you scratched their skin, you would see nothing underneath. All image and clothing, nothing to respect.

I have no problem with actors who become politicians after earning their stripes with public service and other activities. It's the ones who think they are qualified just because they have a pretty face who bug the heck out of me.
