I doubt I would have been miserable under the old system. I was designed to procreate, and I know it, and I've always known it. The only thing I ever wanted with any degree of certainty was children, and they are the most rewarding, most beautiful, most incredible thing I've ever experienced. Nothing comes close to the birth of my children, except, perhaps, the joy of raising them. Since so many women choose to have children, despite the difficulties imposed on them now, I suspect most women probably feel the way I do. The tragedy is that a movement that dared to call itself a "women's" movement, failed to take in to account the thing most women value above all else- children, their production and care.
I guess I see the old objectives as completely wrong- and in fact, destructive.
But I would be excited to see a real women's movement, that took in to account that women are, really, quite different from men, and thank goodness for society that they are. Such a movement would have my support. |
