I was recently reading a bunch of articles about women with children slipping further in to poverty, and that pisses me off. I didn't know a lot of frustrated and angry women- except my mother, who felt she had to work because my father had a melanoma, and she wanted to stay home, but couldn't. The women on our street seemed pretty conent- they had lovely homes, they threw great birthday parties, they had well kept children, who behaved in school.

I was looking for statistics similar to these for the US- I know they exist, because I've seen them, but this is why I'm angry:

What I have seen in the schools is a generation of children who are not being parented adequately- they aren't being fed properly, they aren't being played with, and they don't know the things you and I knew- like simple nursery rhymes. I don't think parents have suddenly turned to crap- but I do think they are no longer home to parent. Here's some important data on eating together- look at the 0-3 meals a week, 31%!
