Harry, I am not the best person to be more succinct than Heidegger (or many other better explainers than I am).
What I could briefly say is this:
When we talk about "time" we are talking about PERCEPTIONS of time. We pretend that these are uniform (from person to person) and at any given "time" (or maybe mind-moment is a better word). But they are NOT.
As you point out in your post: "It feels like Groundhog Day on an assembly line that keeps getting faster". In this you are describing a commonly experienced phenomenon which is that "time" seems to go "faster" as your age advances (compared to your earliest, say pre-school years when Summer, for example was VERY long, or almost endless).
We "know" from Astronomy or whatever, that the measured lengths of "Summers" has not gotten shorter during your lifetime to this point, but your PERCEPTION has certainly changed.
There is a whole huge discussion (which I will avoid getting into)about what triggers your "perception" of time. Such notions as "beginnings", "endings", "separate objects" "separate beings" "separate places" and the PRESUMED distance or space between and the PRESUMED "time" it would take to traverse the distance, depending on the vehicle and its speed, all that maxing out at the speed of light.
There is another whole huge discussion(again avoided, largely) about who YOU (the one who is perceiving this "time") ARE. You can assume that you are this seemingly separate body, but would you so assume if you were not CONSCIOUSLY aware? Another very different assumption is that you are the WITNESS of all and everything that is presently arising in Consciousness.
Moving towards the realm of Spirituality, the ordinary human awareness is of oneself (and everything else) as separate beings, things, places, worlds, whatever. What all this IS and HOW it is arising, being sustained, then dying and changing form is NOT really understood.
In the Path in which I am involved, the assumptions are:
--there is NOTHING but the Divine --everything ARISES in the Divine --the sense of separated existence is as a result of the ego or self contraction. --when this self-contraction is ultimately released, the REALIZATION is that this is NO separated existence, that all and everything arises in the Divine. -- with NO separated existence there is NO "distance" between bodies and things in CONSCIOUSNESS --with no "distance" there is NO "time" to traverse the "no distance"
Point of view is a Property of egoic existence. There is NO point of view in the God-Realized state. But what is REALIZED (in that state) is that ordinary egoic existence, worlds, whatever are ILLUSIONS in Consciousness.
That's the best I can do in short space, short time, making no presumptions about your previous explorations, other than Heidegger.
Namaste!
Jim
