Elmatador, I assume that you don't believe the idea put forth in this piece that you have posted, i.e., that the French government and "society" are responsible for the "youth" riots.
The word "youth" here implies that the people who are rioting are French. They are not. They are foreigners from Africa and the Middle East, who can't assimilate to French society because of lack of intelligence, and because of lack of temperament for the customs of the French people.
Of course, the government of France and the ruling elite of France will not admit that they cannot solve the problems of the rioters. To do so would be to admit the existence of limits on their own power, that is to say, on the power they have to bring about any kind of result they want out in "society."
So yes, the present government IS responsible for what is happening, but not because it is discriminating against foreigners living on France soil. The failure of the government is that it is not discriminating enough. Only when the government cuts off all subsidies, and all the rhetorical b.s. that justify those subsidies, will the problem be solved.
I think what is happening now is healthy. The post-war neo-socialist political synthesis is getting ground down into the dirt. With every passing day the impotence and incompetence of the current leadership becomes more apparent. Out there in the wings is a true Frenchmen and European, someone like M. Le Pen. The sooner this person arrives -- along with the party he will represent, and the change in the realm of ideas that he will cause -- the better things will be. |
