DC is contemplating giving grandparents who care for their grandchildren the same stipend they give to foster parents. washingtonpost.com My own experience over generations suggests to me that grandparents are actually the secret when it comes to raising children and balancing work and family. I would prescribe multi-generational living arrangements as the solution to most social woes -- but we seem to be going in entirely the opposite direction.
