Please sign this petition opposing the "Crescent of Embrace" design being developed for the Flight 93 memorial. Despite vague comments by the designer and the Park Service, the design is going forward as yet unchanged.
To: US Park Service, US Congress The US Park Service is currently going forward with a proposed monument for the Flight 93 Memorial that is called the "Crescent of Embrace" which is a large crescent of red maple trees that closely resembles the Islamic Red Crescent that is the very symbol of the radical Islamics who attempted to hijack the aircraft.
This proposal must not go forward or be accepted as a monument to the brave US citizens who gave their lives on Flight 93 to foil the horrific goals of the terrorists and resulting in the crash of the aircraft and the loss of everyone on board.
Please sign this petition, which will be forwarded to the US Park Service and the US Congress. Also, please contact the US Park Service at the Flight 93 Memorial Site (http://www.nps.gov/flni/) and communicate your protest of this design there.
Tom Burnett, Jr., who was one of the passengers on the flight involved in the fight against the terrorists told his wife the following just before attacking the terrorists, "We have to do something. I know we're all going to die. There's three of us who are going to do something about it. It's up to us. I think we can do it." He and his companions then went on to stop the terrorists, paying with their own lives, and saving the lives of countless others.
Tom's father, Tom Burnett, Sr., voiced his opposition to the crescent proposal when it was brought up for consideration. He said, "I explained this goes back centuries as an old-time Islamic symbol. I told them we'd be a laughing stock if we did this. I got blown off."
Please stand as a US citizen in opposition to this design and proposal. At the National Park Service Site, and with your own congressional representatives, do not accept vague assurances...this issue, the history of United States citizens' and free peoples' of the world struggles against radical Islamic terror, is too critical to allow any type of memorial that in any way recognizes or could be construed as rewarding or memorializing those terrorists and their ideology.
Demand a design that is more reflective of American values and liberty that in no way resembles the symbols of the terrorists...any thing short of that would be a travesty, no matter how well intended. |
