I am very much in favor of states rights over federal rights myself.

I don't see how a contrary position holds water given the clear intent of the framers of the constitution, and given the language of the constitution itself.

Imo expanding the reach of the federal government has been a disaster ... what can we honestly say that the federal government does for us, as compared to state and local governments?

It gave us a military larger than that of the next 40 largest militaries combined ... gave us a pointless war in Iraq ... gave us debt to the gills ... gave us a pointless war on drugs ... gave us innumerable unfunded mandates that burden states and localities.

Given a choice between the federal government running Florida, or Floridians running Florida, I strongly prefer the latter.
