SGI listed on over-the-counter exchange

Mountain View (California) - Shares of Silicon Graphics began trading this morning from their new home on the over-the-counter (OTC) securities exchange, under the trading symbol "SGID." Last week, the New York Stock Exchange booted the company's shares off of the big board when their trading value fell below exchange requirements.

In what could be described as a very, very forward-looking statement, SGI's chairman and CEO, Bob Bishop, is quoted in this morning's statement as saying, "SGI is a long-term strategic technology supplier that we believe is mission critical to the nation...Putting our OTC transition in context, there will be no change to our products, services and operations, or our commitments to customers, partners and vendors."
