09:29 AMD Advanced Micro: Dell selling AMD Processors - Legg Mason (24.63 ) -Update- Legg Mason notes that over the past few days, DELL has quietly begun offering AMD stand-alone processors on its website. They say that while Dell is not offering AMD processors in any of its systems, it is now at least willing to sell to customers AMD's higher performance single- and dual-core Athlons for Desktops. They say that whether Dell will, or will not, offer AMD systems is anyone's guess, but they believe likelihood does seem to be increasing. Firm believes the selling of AMD's MPUs will be viewed by the market as some form of endorsement, which should benefit AMD's market standing and its share price valuation. They think Dell's offering of AMD processors shortly following such a difficult quarter, and the ground swell of calls that Dell needs to offer AMD, will likely push further market speculation of Dell becoming a new AMD customer, which could again have a meaningful impact on AMD's share price.
