Power Only Understands Power

By Kathleen Reardon*

huffingtonpost.com

<<...Smart politics is power politics when power is all they understand. It’s about going out on a strong limb -- one the other side overlooked or underestimated, not one they unequivocally own. It's not about fumbling around on feeble branches of peripheral issues. Stick to the larger branches and DELEGATE the smaller ones. Let the bloggers take on some. Kerry was exhausted at the end of the campaign because he said something about too many things and said too little about what mattered. He didn’t fight the ugliness, even by delegation; he just hoped it would go away. He believed then and still does that people have the cognitive capacity to take in and analyze lots of information. We’re limited, so hit the big issues, stay away from the pedestals and start fighting fire with fire...>>
