Geoff, I don't know what happened in other cities, or in the other areas in this city, but when 9/11 happened, there was a meeting shortly after the event, in which the good moslems made it clear that they did not condone the attack. This prevented a lot of the retaliation that you mention. Those that I saw openly approving the attack, were those in their 20's, and early 30s, and seemed to think that we would knuckle under, and that Islam would be acknowledged as the major religion.
Personally, I don't care who a person worships as a god figure, or how they do it, as long as it does not harm society. That is a personal choice, and all should be given the leeway to exercise that choice, but when they become agonistic, and try to force their beliefs down the throats of others, the line in the sand has been crossed.
All is calm around here, and there have been no incidents, except for a professor at USF was caught collecting donations, under the guise of advancing education, that were being sent to aid the Islamic Jihad. He is being tried in court as we speak.
I have withdrawn my business from quite a few stores, and other business ventures, but have, and alway will, make sure that they know why I am doing it. That is the only way they will get the message. |
