I don't disagree with your post. But I'd go first with the billions that we spend having bases in Europe and Korea. In Germany, we prop up European economies for almost no return, politicially or economically or militarily. In Korea, we have 35,000 troops in harm's way, costing billions in support. If the North starts a war, the only way to stop the slaughter is to nuke the North. Instead, make the Europeans pay for their own defense, in both money and manpower. Same with Korea and Japan. They have more free funds and surpluses than we do. Make the rich Arab protectorates pay for peace in the mideast. Make the Saudis dissolve their support for terrorist training and jihaddist schooling and then use those funds to provide an economically viable nation for the Palestinians. At home, get rid of the highway bill and other pork for politicians. It would be easy to balance the budget, support a strong defense and have a strong infrastructure and probably cure cancer and heart disease, if we got rid of inefficiency, pork and wasteful spending, all without any tax increases. But this makes too much sense.
