C-COR to Provide Equipment For @Home Network
STATE COLLEGE, Pa., Sept. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- C-COR Electronics, Inc. (Nasdaq-NNM:CCBL) announced that the company will be providing hybrid fiber-coax (HFC) equipment to @Home Network (Nasdaq:ATHM - news) for use in its new technical facility to test and develop high-speed Internet applications and services for its customers. The test lab, which will be located at @Home Network's headquarters in Redwood City, California, will be installing C-COR's new FlexNet(R) 900 Series amplifiers, and FlexNode(TM) fiber optic nodes and other headend AM fiber optics.
@Home Network uses cable modems and its own network architecture to provide high-speed Internet services. By connecting cable directly to subscribers' PCs, the @Home service enables users to download information at speeds hundreds of times faster than conventional modems. In addition to speed and reliability, the service helps guide subscribers through the vast array of content found on the Web and provides them with local news and information, email and chat.
Commenting on C-COR's involvement, C-COR President and Chief Executive Officer Scott C. Chandler stated, ``We are very excited and honored to have been chosen to be an equipment provider for @Home.
