Coal/gas plant seeks $5M grant morningsentinel.com Excerpt: Power Holdings has determined that it can produce synthetic natural gas from coal for $4.50 to $5 per million Btu. Natural gas has been trading for $10 to $13 per million Btu. Synthetic natural gas from the Jefferson County plant could save Illinois consumers $1 billion to $2 billion over the next 20 years, according to Power Holdings.
