"When the Allies fried millions of German innocent women and children, they had no clue of any holocaust or similar actions uncovered much later. No such a posteriori knowledge at all."

Didn't the ( fairly ineffective ) German bombing of London preceed that? Not trying to make any excuses, just provide a little context. Germany hit London with a twig, so we hit them with a club.

I had the notion that the a bombing of Japan could have been avoided too, until I read a book by one of the organizers of the Japanese kamakazis. The Japanese had much of the population ready to go kamikazi in case of allied invasion. The Japanese had been propogandized into believing that the Americans were viscous animals and were going to rape and kill all the men, women and children in Japan. I think the A bombs actually saved many lives.

Another thing the A bombs have done is render global total war into global suicide. It's no mistake that there has been no WW III.
