OK I am posting here thanks to a crosslink to your post from the new economy thread.

I think it is equally likely that a consumer electronics tivo-like OS emerges, where you store your own video library on your computer at home, and one of the computer companies takes that slot, which is just as lucrative as the Dell enterprise PC market now. Right now Apple looks like the winner there but at least Dell is making some moves to get away from wintel and expand, who knows they might take it yet.
