Alan, What they did at the New Orleans Inn was probably against the wishes of the corporate board. One of the problems with so many motels, and hotels, these days, is that they are owned by individuals, or local companies, but are supposed to follow the guidelines of the Holiday Inn manual. In a case like Katrina, the local ownership, which in many cases are people that were not born American, went berserk, threw the guests out, and ran cover for because of their cowardice, and lack of concern for their guests. I seriously doubt that local ownership will ever be accepted by Holiday Inn again. I don't think you can blame the holding company for what an independent ownership does. In a circumstance like this, they will never allow that ownership to represent Holiday Inn again. I witnessed some violations of the local ownership in a Holiday Inn Express, and sent them an email describing the what was happening, and they took the franchise away from that local ownership.
