I am a moderate democrat, but I think the federal government should be cut in half each of the next three years. The power of the money is breeding corruption. Business and the politicians that control those purse strings are tighter than a GI home on leave riding a hooker in vegas. You couldn't pry them apart with a grenade. It is time we blew up the federal govt. It is out of control.

I think you may be throwing out the baby with the wash. What's I think is the source of the problem is the GOP. Because they control all three branches of the gov't, they think they have a mandate to do whatever they want. Consequently, they have been spending like your GI friend up above is on a two week leave and will ship out to Iraq at the end of that leave.

What happened with FEMA in the Gulf States is a travesty. It is directly linked to the placement of incompetent/indifferent Bush chronies in positions of power within that organization. In fact, there are numerous dedicated employees in FEMA who were begging Brownie to get off is fat butt and do something.......to no avail. Read over the emails between Brownie and the FEMA regulars in the field. Its disgusting to read Brown's responses to their pleas for help. Brownie was more concerned about his blue shirt for a tv interview than the people who had been displaced by Katrina. And I assure you.......Brownie is not the only incompetent more interested in his six figure salary that was placed by Bush.

In fact, there is a tradition of incompetence developing under Bush.............look no further than the Iraqi war for confirmation.

So before you throw out the gov't, I think a first step should be to cut out the current cancer. When they are gone, if there are still problems, then I can agree with you that the gov't itself is screwed up and needs to be trimmed.
