An amendment to the Defense Authorization bill will
authorize the Pentagon to ramp up its fleet of
unmanned aircraft, possibly increasing the number
of UAVs destined for Grand Forks Air Force Base.
The Senate approved late Tuesday night a $218 million
provision authorizing the purchase of 29 Predator
unmanned aerial vehicles. That's 20 more than
originally planned, which increases the new fleet
to 38 Predators.
