I think you should read Solon's replies. He said it rather well, I think.

Where were these wonderful French and UNers when genocide was being committed in Yugoslavia?

He's also right about our leaders- -and all the leaders of his own nation. They've all been men who understood there were actions NOT to be taken.

OTOH, the same can be said of the leaders of the former USSR. We and they went though 45 years of cold war together and NOBODY pushed the button. Ultimately both sides behaved rationally. Whether the likes of some of the guys you favor would under the pressure is an oprn question.

Maybe it's time you faced a few facts:
(1) Bush will not be impeached or resigned.
(2) Cheney will not be impeached or resigned.
(3) In Novemmber 2008 we will have another election. THEN you get to set this nation on a new course- -or not. It's easy to imagine a Democrat deciding that the long term consequences of a quick pull-out from Iraq are simply too costly and we have to see this through- -like it or not. The fact the Cindy Sheehan bawls her head off is irrelevant on this scale of things.
