Sam, appreciate your comments and agree with your holding company analogy. From my current understanding of the company, however, much of its strength comes from forward-looking managment at the top, e.g., Murphy, et. al. who must lend direction to the separate divisions. These are the folks whose interests shouldn't be too splintered as they need to help channel (limited) company resources, including marketing money and energy when conditions dictate. I try not to be "elitist" about where profits come from but guess I do tend to think of DCI **primarily** as a technology company. Sooo, perhaps this causes a knee-jerk reaction when I see them pursuing things like pet care business -- esp. since I feel I understand the importance of hitting/missing technology windows. However, if this can all be done without diluting the focus of the principal decision makers, I'll be last to try to second guess (!).

Dan

Note: I (finally) just read the writeup on DCI in the KonLin Letter and think their analysis is dead-on with everything else I've heard!!!
