Yeah, great quote..... There was a book by Sterling Hayden I read once, the word "Schooner" was in the title, I think, it was his own story of the way he chucked a lucrative career and went to sea, his point being that money has only limited value, while Life, Truth, and Beauty are timeless and eternal. Let's hope he made a buck on the royalties, eh ;-)

Yeah, Adrian....let me tell you a story..... About exactly a year and one week ago, I sat down at a computer for the first time and was introduced to the internet. One of the first pages brought up was Canada Stockwatch www2.canada-stockwatch.com at the bottom of which are links to Sauer's Sites, George Chelekis' "Essays", and Adrian's website imagen.net . I was completely impressed with the logic and clarity of thought and the ease of access, I guess at the time I imagined there were many Adrians on the web, and the same day I went to a guy here who makes PC clones and ordered one. It came in in November, and I quickly discovered SI among many other useful sites, and lurked for a long time before posting.

I have held common stock off and on since 1965, the first one was Giant Mascot Mines which was a four-bagger in two years (spoiled me forever:), yet I have never felt so much in touch, nor made so much money, as in the year since being on-line. It was largely Adrian's site that convinced me to hook up, he is known off the web but only by reputation on it, and sadly he is alone so far, but anyway I thank him for being there. Some of the points he makes that I appreciate;

1. We are empowered people using the web, the first medium by which shareholders can talk to each other. The brokerage and management cabals are going to have to deal with this fact, and straightening up their acts is their only alternative, they are slow to realize this, but it is inevitable.

2. Scam perps have traditionally gotten away with their crimes as well as the proceeds, in this country as in most others. Check Adrian's site for details and names, then follow those names using Stockwatch. Interesting, eh?

3. Bad money drives out good. There are deserving companies going hungry for capital at the same time that people throw money at scams. Access to information, along with the freedom of speech that forums like SI provide, will balance out the equation. That's the theory, anyway, time will tell, but personally I like the concept.

There's more but I gotta go....... Btw, CB, we planted Cascade berries along with boysen- and loganberries here this year, we got some plants from an aunt, but we have no idea what cascades are, I suppose we'll find out next June, anyway it's a great name, only on SI do I talk with a drupe (you) and a fruit (Tomato)..... take care ..... marcos
