The Tampa/St. Pete/Clearwater market is weird. Every other place I've lived the majority of values were in the middle... here, it's seems like the majority is either high prices "luxury" or "economy" functional housing.

Still, I think you get more for your money here than most places. 13 years ago I bought this modest 2600 sq. ft. house - 4 br / 2 bath / enclosed pool and spa / outdoor kitchen in a subdivision with 2 parks and docks on a large lake for ~$170K (former model home mostly furnished). Today it would probably go for $450K, though I suspect if you wanted to sell it fast it would probably be $420K.

Florida should be a fairly stable market, with the imminent retirement of the baby boomers. But I still think in a year I won't be able to get more than $350K for this house. Tempted to sell...
