Think the question is still up in the air, but am not so convinced that credit isn't contracting:

The slowing in Sept., Oct., in loan growth is due to hurricanes and attendant concern with fuel price increases. The slight slowing in the growth of M2 shows nothing. M1 isn't relevant since it merely shows transactional balances. If you want a measure of "consumer daily living funds", you should check currency in circulation:

You should look at the data in a way that argues against what you believe. You have to take this tack to survive in markets.
