They flow from a Socialist ideology but have moved toward a Liberal orientation of necessity.
If we could convince our Democrats to do that, they might start winning elections again. They can't seem to get the hint from 2 lost Presidential elections they should have won in a walk though.

As you know, the U.S. has reversed party definitions since the time of Jefferson, et al.
Arguable. Very arguable. Those foundrs of ours did not believe in group rights; they believed in individual rights. And they believed in property rights, holding that a man had an unbreakable bond to the fruits of his labor- -even if his neighbor was jealous. They held citizens had a right to firearms, not just the gov't. In a much-abused section, they required jury trials for fines greater than $20. So now a new class of legal trouble called an "infraction" has been invented to avoid that and states are taking full advantage of it. They said rights other than those given to the federal gov't in our constitution belonged to the states or the people. Now the federal gov't runs roughshod as it pleases.

I find it hard to believe that Jefferson would recognize our present Democratic Party as his.
