Re: "You were taken hook-line-and-sinker if you honestly believe that US fighters in Vietnam smoked marijuana that grew on 18-ft. tall trees."
Evidence? Sorry, mine is just the direct to me testimony from one who was there and smoked his first pot near said "tree (so he thought at first)" however tall. If there is something implausible in this, I fail to see it. Please fill me in, if so.
I don't recall discussing smuggling of hash or heroin out of Vietnam, let along saying anything that should make me "seem" ignorant or disbelieving of it. In fact, while bodies almost certainly weren't involved in this case, in '74 I smoked weed allegedly directly from Cambodia, brought to the states by the source of the story you seem to think must have taken me hook line and sinker (for some unknown and unexplained reason, as yet).
By the by, a more current friend of mine with a masters degree in Mandarin Chinese visited China in the last couple of years, on software related business for his employer. I hope you had as enjoyable a trip as he did. I myself boarded a Chinese personnel carrier while it was parked at US facilities in San Diego - the first time in History a Chinese war vessel ever docked stateside - not many years ago. Aside from locked quarters and the like, I wandered around the vessel as I pleased and like thousands of others (mostly Chinese Americans by far), I wasn't searched, and didn't pass through so much as a metal detector on my way aboard.
For what it's worth, I note that you've offered nothing to support the allegation that this administration told a "bald faced lie" about Iraq. I'd think the plain absence of evidence from you would compel you to agree in this, but I suspect we'll have to agree to disagree here too, even though you truly offer nothing to show it that I'm aware of.
