WASHINGTON (Dow Jones)--Billionaires Bill Gates and Warren Buffett disclosed in separate regulatory filings Monday that they wouldn't disclose all their holdings in other companies.

Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) Chairman Gates and Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (BRKA, BRKB) Chief Executive Buffett said in separate filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission that they have requested confidential treatment for some of their holdings.

Under SEC rules, companies may ask the SEC for the permission to exclude investments from mandatory filings if it imperils their investment strategy.
