Java is the best shot Novell has to make it as an intranet/internet
software company!

IMHO there is a huge momentum behind Java and the performance issues should get solved.

If it fails to take off, then it will be a big problem indeed! But what
other alternatives do they have?

Basically they missed a whole product delivery cycle!
(Remember SuperNOS!) They are paying for it now.

I feel we need to give Eric Schmidt more time - at least until the
native TCP/IP OS (Moab) gets out - which is scheduled for mid-98.
Also, we need to have some hit products to make the folks be
aware of Novell as a player in the internet. Right now it is off the
radar screen! Border Manager, I hear is selling well, beating internal
projections.

If Novell can convince the existing 3.1 customers to upgrade with Novell products and not go with NT, that will have a dramatic effect on the bottom line! Can they do it? May be with better marketing,
and the new products in the pipeline.

Regards,

Rangu
