mjfdl, regarding the leaked classified finding that if we defeat the Iraqi insurgency we'll unleash a swarm of tried and tested terrorists on America and our allies, you said:

"How do they spin that?

.... Geez let me see. Another classified report...so secret its title is even classified...And here we are discussing it...Hmmm...sounds like yet another CIA leak to me. And of course you will believe it...even though by definition it is not to be trusted because its a leak."

No mjfdl, I don't believe that because I read a report of a leak; I believe the alleged conclusion of that report because I've been arguing the truth of that conclusion for as long as you care to look back.

After all, if you understand human nature and believe that Iraqis are human it's the only outcome that makes sense and it's inconceivable that a panel of CIA experts would have come to any other conclusion.

The better question is not whether we're right, the real question is how any politician could aspire to reach top levels of leadership without understanding enough about human nature to predict that outcome. But the Bush/Cheney/Rice leadership team did aspire, did reach the top level of leadership and yet did not understand human nature and they took us into the money pit/graveyard of Iraq...and it's a curse that keeps on cursing.

Of course, a true "patriot" might say; "We can stay the course and 'win'" but the ugly truth is that this particular runaway train has gotten up a big head of steam and it's not going to change course soon, much less stop.

....And, on another subject, I notice you once again discount any CIA leaks that undermine this Administration's policies on the basis that there's a "war" going on between the White House and the CIA. Have you ever wondered, however, whether you should be taking smug comfort in that allegation?

While you might wish to blithely discount any information the CIA leaks which undermines White House policies....messenger can't be trusted and all that...why do you think some CIA officials are willing to put their careers on the line? After all, even you will probably admit that this is a very defensive and vindictive Administration when crossed?

Could it be that they are truly concerned for (drum roll here) America? Could it be that some CIA experts consider the Bush/Cheney/Rice policies they undermine to be so damaging to America that they consider it their DUTY to leak the truth in order to turn the Bush/Cheney/Rice-led herd of sheep before the flock plunges over the edge of the cliff?

Or do you think it's enough for you to simply look for some aspect of "the doubters'" characters, their wording or their pasts and then gleefully trumpet; "NY Times, NY Times, Mike Wallace, Mike Wallace, MSM, MSM, Liberal, Liberal, Leaker, Leaker, Traitor, Traitor, etc. etc...?" Yeah, that's the ticket...you won't have to consider a word they say.

Beats thinking every time. No, I mean it...that beats thinking every time. Ed
