I have nothing against "gay union" - as long as membership is not compulsory for me. Gay marriage IMO is an oxymoron.

Next thing you know Harris will be claiming gay unions are ruining the US auto industry :-)

So for you its just the definition of words, as in you have no problem with the concept of a gay couple having the same legal rights as a straight couple, correct? They just can't call their union a "marriage", but the get the same rights/benefits as married people.

If your view is the norm, I don't see what all the fuss is about. Somehow, I don't think your view is the norm. I think those in opposition to gay marriage are concerned with something beyond the definition of the word "marriage". But again, I'm not sure!
