Yes, yes. I know the script, that you have in your head. But I don't see any more reason for Taiwan to be part of China than for New Zealand to be part of Australia [which it was once part of]. On the other hand, I see reasons for New Zealand to be part of Australia and Taiwan to be part of China.

Either way, the people of New Zealand and Taiwan will decide whether they want to join up with the others. The others will decide whether they want to have them join up. As shown by East Germany being subsumed by West Germany, it's not necessarily a simple matter to take over somewhere else. It seemed obvious to me that East Germany would ironically take over West Germany because the socialist voters of East Germany would swing the West German vote sufficiently to change the political system to favour socialism. So it did. Now, Germany is loaded with bureaucracy and government-created unemployment and problems.

If south and north Korea join up again, similar problems to those of Germany will arise. They have grown apart over the decades.

Argentina decided to "take back" the Falkland Islands once upon a time. That didn't turn out to be a lot of fun for those concerned. Not all of them anyway. The invasion failed and what happened to Argentina's military bosses subsequently? Argentina became democratic.
