Prior to 1862 we travelled freely to the U.S. without passports by virtue of being British subjects. Travel elsewhere required a British passport. Over the years Canada has more and more embraced independence from Britain. But many Canadians retain a fondness for the Monarchy and the "Queen Mother". "Where are yours?"
