I'm a speed freak. Can't wait for downloads. I'm running ISDN 128K now from home, but I want more!!! Also, I like to work at home, so I need a faster connection to my server. Soon, a T1 will be like molasses. Anyway, I'm using an ASND pipeline 130 (or better ASND product) come h--- or high water! Gary, I went and looked up the pipeline 130. Was not sure what it did at first. Sounds like a terrific product. I have a question. Clearly, the Pipeline 130 will give you T1 speed from your home to office on a dedicated line. What is the the backbone of your ISP? I am using cable modem access and as the amount of subscribers increased, the ISP could not keep up with an adequate backbone bandwidth. The present situation is a T1 to the ISP suppline by Spritnet with an auxillary T3 supplied by UUnet that is metered to add bandwidth when needed. However, the cable access now has more than 300 subsribers and the T1 and T3 is overloaded a bit during "rush hour". That is 3 to 5 PM here on the net due to the tool shops sending large graphic drawings. The ISP asked for an OC 12 but UUnet indicated the largest backbone in the area was a T3 so they would have to run an entire OC 12 from a long ways away. I do not know the distance but the cost is more than my ISP is willing to pay. Bandwidth is clearly becomming a problem and the fix is expensive. Glenn PS The modem I use is a four bridge unit with throughput of up to 10 million bps per port. Thus, under ideal conditions, my office can use the entire bandwidth of the T3 and T1 but most of the servers are not that fast, I brought all this up curious about your ISP having enough bandwidth for your Pipeline 130.
