It does not seem to me that Ariel would be a competitor to WIND in the DSP tools arena. They are basicly a board manufacturer that supplies some software to support their board business. They do not have their own operating system and the software which they supply consists primarily of drivers for other company's operating systems plus libraries of math functions and graphics functions. Wind's VxWorks RTOS seems to be supported by their drivers on all of their boards which are not PC specific.

If WIND ports its Tornado for DSP to TI chips, as I expect, they should not be in conflict with Ariel. You can check out Ariel's product specs at their web page.

The press release on Tornado for DSP left me with the impression that there are no currently available IDEs specifically for DSP. If anyone knows differently please post the info.
