Wow, what a day for the metals and larger PM stocks! I can't remember the last time Newmont was up over $3 in a day...up $3.01 to close at $46.05 on 11.1 million shares. Lots of big price moves in shares on significantly higher-than-average volumes. Perhaps the standout was SSRI, up $1.29 to $15.11 on 1.3 million shares. It hasn't been above 15 for over a year. Silver up over $8...looks like a close of $8.02 spot. Once the last high of ~$8.40 (from March 2004) is taken out we'll be in territory not seen for decades...one has to wonder where resistance will be at that juncture.
