09:30 CMVT Comverse Tech: Lands monster Telstra deal via Kenan acquisition - CIBC (26.35 +0.33) CIBC notes that during its investor day event, Australian telecom Telstra announced some of the key vendors for its major network overhaul. In billing and CRM, they say the dark horse winner turns out to be a consortium of Siebel for CRM, Kenan (soon to be CMVT) for billing and Accenture for integration. While the deployment will take 3-5 years to complete, it wants to start rolling out its new network and IT infrastructure by mid-06. They say the IT infrastructure build will mount to more than $1 bln and believe the vendors named above will see more than half of that. They note that in recent months, speculation in the Israeli press pegged DOX as winning the whole enchilada. While that's not happening, they believe DOX as an O.S.S. provider could still appear among the four or five other major announcements slated for the coming weeks. Firm says this is a major win for CMVT, and is a resounding validation of its decision to acquire Kenan from CSG Systems.
