We might be parting company on this issue.

Carter has three decent achievements (two, since he was retired by the voters). Number 1 - He brought Egypt and Israel together. Highly significant. Number 2 - Habitat for Humanity - Very worthwhile service. Number 3 - Carter Center -Good idea but haven't really seen much. Of course the Swedes would disagree with me since he was "Nobeled".

On flip side we have the following: Number 1 - He gave away the Panama Canal and its related security provisions. Number 2 - He signed the SALT II Treaty which the Senate refused to ratify. Democratic Senate too. Number 3 - He gave us 20% interest rates. Number 4 - He failed to solve the Iranian Hostage Crisis. Number 5 - He failed to develop a cogent energy policy. But he did create another cabinet with the Department of Energy. Most recently, he joined hands with Communist Castro against the wishes of most Cuban Americans living in the USA.

Bottom line - I enjoy salted peanuts!! :-)
