Because "copyright" and "proprietary" mean the same thing in this context, it is generally accepted that one cannot copyright a general idea or have proprietary rights to a general idea. At the risk of oversimplification, Bob cannot copyright the idea to buy UTEK. As you have stated, Bob has discussed the purchase of UTEK over the air. However, Bob does have proprietary rights to the manner in which it is stated and it is improper to use direct quotes from his newsletter that go above and beyond the idea to buy UTEK at this point. Although innocent I am sure, your direct quote from that newsletter provided new information (although subtle) regarding the purchase of UTEK prior to its release to the general public by Bob if and when he so chooses. I will not discuss what that new information is because I will only aid to its improper dissemination. I would suggest that you may consider contacting the webmistress to have your post removed. Just my two cents.
