"Don't forget Tim McVey..."

The thing that is often ignored is that we are much more vulnerable to terrorists of the domestic variety than foreign ones. If, for no other reasons, they are more active here than the others. Despite propaganda to the contrary, there are many disaffected groups in the US. They have much better knowledge of the pressure points and have access to materials that a foreigner wouldn't have. While there might be the McCarthyist fantasy of foreign influenced and funded terrorist activity, it is a lot more likely that some purely internal groups are much more likely to cause damage. And it isn't restricted to some aspect of the political spectrum, from the enviro-terrorists and animal rights groups to the abortion clinic bombers and "black helicopter" groups all pose a greater threat than the militant Islamists.
