No, Bush lied and called Saddam an immediate threat who could not be distinguished from Al Qaida. That they were the same thing, in effect. He linked Saddam to Al Qaida and 9-11. He further stated that if we waited we would get a mushroom cloud. He knew that wasn't true but he lied. He further said that Saddam was seeking uranium from Niger. He knew that to be untrue. He further called anyone who cricized him "uninterested in national security". He clearly said that if we don't take out Saddam now we could be attacked by him.

Cheney lied twice as much as Bush, but Bush lied a lot. Rove made sure the bggest lying was done at lower levels to limit Bush's personal exposure, but the lying was legion. We all heard is echoing every day. If we didn't invade Iraq, we were finished. That was the message.
