Is there a price at which all past rancor and enmity can be forgiven and we here can/should also be long ASND?

No way!! No surrender! -gg- Just kidding. Seriously though, I have heavy doubts about Ascend recovering anytime soon. My biggest reason: 3Com Total Control. While Ascend can grow from here, have you read what experts estimate will happen in the ISP market between now and year 2000? I'm sure you have, and the trend is not favorable to Ascend at all. If the predictions of only 400 ISP's by year 2000 comes true....Ascend's biggest base of customers (small to medium ISP's) are going to be disappearing (being absorbed) into the larger ISP's, where Ascend doesn't necessarily rule. So Ascend has to branch out, look for new markets. Sure the Max-TNT and the other new high-end stuff probably sell pretty good, but will it be enough to support the crumbling base of small to medium ISPs? Will it be enough to regain faltered earnings momentum? Meanwhile, the big growth area of Corporate Remote access....well....3Com has Total Control.

DK

Edit - Obviously this is a quick summary, and over simplified, but I didn't want to get too windy. Just wanted to add that Total Control is also probably taking most of the new small-to-mid size ISP's that are fairly new, and the also the new ones that are coming on line.
